Growing up in Utah has spoiled me.
I always want something grand, something that I have to work for.
The feeling of exhaustion that leads to the perfect view.
I miss things at home sometimes, things that I don't think I have here.
A lot of the time if you really look and if you allow yourself to enjoy it,
you can find those things where you are as well.
We went on a 30 kilometer hike last weekend.
Started at home and ended in Schauinsland.
(I can walk to hiking trails from my house, most people don't get that perk.)
It took us more than eight hours.
We got a little lost.
A little scraped up.
A little crazy.
It still felt so great.
I missed coming home and not being able to move, because I had just had the most active day.
I like testing my body.
Waking up the next day and having everything hurt.
I don't care how many blisters it earned me.
That is my kind of win.
Oh and something you won't get climbing around in the Rockies.
You won't get a restaurant at the top of your destination..
that serves a four layer black forest cherry cake.
