Ćunski

Happy to have someone willing to wander into every little town I think is pretty.
Someone that zig-zags the streets with me, pets all the animals, and is happy to eat pizza for dinner every other night of the week.
We do vacation well. Daydreaming about our next warm escape.

Televrin

We broke our streak of lazy days and finally headed for a hike to Televrin Peak. At the top, I was stunned by the 360-degree views of Mali Lošinj and the Croatian coastline in the distance. Consistent surprises from this stunning small island that I didn't even know existed a few weeks before.

We didn't last too long up there. We gave in to the heat and headed back down to the water.
Ending our last day with pita and backgammon on a secluded stone pier, just the two of us.

Night Shifts

After almost two years of working, I finally came into the night shift life. Not that I couldn't wait for this day to come, especially with the constant bombardment of telephone calls, search for brain bleeds right out of my sleep, and almost continuous glaring at that bright screen in that dark room. But in some other unexplainable way, I love the emergency room, and I enjoy the night shift and all the things that come through.

Now here I am out of a night shift, calmly on the train towards the airport. It didn't start calm. Leave it to me to plan the most hectic post-night shift travel morning. I was trying to make the best of my tight vacation week, and the same question always comes up, was the stress of it all worth it? I always do the same thing and don't dwell on those ulcer-inducing moments. Once I'm out of the stress phase, it feels like nothing happened. So I guess that it always comes back to this. I remember that it worked out, that I made it, and the cycle repeats.

Now here's to hoping that I'm going to sleep through this long flight and be back in SLC sooner than later.

Thirtieth.

Thirty-- still doesn't seem like that can be possible. But here we are.
It wasn't the big week in Croatia I had planned (cheers to corona).

But in the end, it was all the best things. The perfect week, just the two of us, and it ended up being everything I needed.

Sunshine. Good food. Warm weather. Beautiful water. And him.

Veli Žal

After our night in Cres, we headed further south. The storm had passed, it felt like summer again, and we knew what secluded coves we were headed to the next day.

*Thank you google maps*

We took a road towards Ustrine and then eventually another dirt path that led us to where we would be spending the night. We found ourselves on someone's private property and the home to a herd of sheep.
B assured me that it was okay, nobody would even come here, plus why would they care. The usual convincing. So we spent the night there.

Waking up so far away from everything, to fresh coffee in the morning sun, and some magical views always makes these spots worth it. Sometimes I just don't realize it until the next day.

Cres

Stop one on the Croatian birthday week adventure (2020).

First of all, I'm so glad we ended up getting that last-minute apartment. Sleeping in the car through that first thunderstorm that greeted us as we drove off the ferry that night would have been a little too rough for me. Damp cars and pouring rain is not my thing.

The storm passed, and we woke up to sunshine and blue skies!

Idyllic little place and the perfect start to our island vacation.
