This time last year, after a long and sometimes demoralizing process, I signed the lease to my apartment! My checklist may have been long, but I'm so happy I didn't give in, and now I get to live in my little slice of paradise.
After the search, the hardest part was the 2.5 months I had to wait for move-in day. I counted down the days until I was officially roommate-free and starting fresh in my own bright and beautiful space.
Now I'm living that new chapter, and I have to admit I don't take one day for granted. I fully enjoy each day I get at home. I love the way the sun hits in the morning. I love getting to decorate it. I love emptying my clean and functional dishwasher. I love getting to buy as many groceries as I want because I know they will fit in the fridge. I love being able to lay on the CLEAN floor. I love biking down my perfect neighborhood street on a sunny day. I love sitting on my balcony with my cat in my lap, drinking coffee, and taking in those Freiburg views.
And this is just apartment number one. Looking forward to the homes to come and the little things that will make them mine.
