Middle of the week hike to Grandeur Peak and the trail was empty.
It was overgrown and the newcomers to Utah found that pretty cool.
It felt pretty wild and I was a little skeptical of it.
After our sunbathing and snacking up top we casually headed down the 3.5 miles awaiting us.
As I was leading them down the path, we weren't even a half a mile in.. I screamed like a little girl and ran fifteen feet back to them.
There was a rattlesnake and my foot almost met with this said snake.

ahhhhhhhhhhh.
That rattle sent shivers down my spine, I felt like my whole body was on edge. I was completely cold, but my heart was racing.
They did not expect a snake and all of a sudden that cool overgrown trail became a nightmare.
There was no way down expect to leap over the snake like a crazy person and run.
The first person went for it and the snake rattled again.
I didn't believe that I would take the leap.
I was already imagining the helicopter that would be heli-lifting one of us off of the mountain.

Walking down the rest of the 3 miles was nerve-racking.
I felt like any plant that touched my foot made me jump.
I kept hearing non existent rattles.
The anxiety of the situation was torturing me.

We made it down. We didn't run into anymore snakes.
One snake for the summer is more than enough.
